I did, my typical 40 minute drive home took almost 1:40 today.

Got out of work and my car was frozen shut.

Eventually got in. I like driving in the snow, but most people just freak the fuck out, braking into turns, tailgating, driving with out lights on, etc.

Saw a Honda Civic that went of the road and onto an embankment, right down the road from work. A Toyota Crayola that had ran into a fence. Saw a Toyota sequoia did a pirouette and hit the guardrail with its back bumper.

I was just fine, except for my sphincter being clenched the whole way.

I was driving back to work yesterday during freezing rain conditions (something I had never heard of until I got to Alaska) and I felt like a drifter. Luckily I was driving with FWD so to counteract any sliding, I just had to point the tires where I wanted to go and add a little gas. There was a truck tailgating me on the way up and flashing his lights at me because I was going 10 under. On base we have a law that if the road conditions are bad (Green being normal, Amber being a little bad, Red being covered in snow and Black being covered in snow and black ice) than you slow down. Amber=5 under, Red=10 under and Black=no driving unless emergency. This asshole however tries to pass me on a double yellow, turns into the other lane, starts sliding, over corrects, barely misses me and slams into a snow filled ditch. Did I stop? Hell no.

Full disclosure: first snow storm this year, I ran over a gently sloped curbed. Forgot that summer levels of grip are gone.

The drive from Athens to my little Rinky dink town took half an hour longer than normal. It's ice up at the University and half an Inch of snow Down here.
